Vete5015, Organisation of Veterinary Services II
Students got acquainted with the Latvian and European Union legislative process in relation to veterinary policy in the fields of animal health, welfare and protection, food, medicine and food hygiene.
Acquainted with veterinary and food surveillance, the supervisory authority in Latvia, its structure, the rights and responsibilities of the inspector; with veterinary work at border control and animal shelters; with reference laboratory in Latvia, its structure; with the national regulatory authority providing the database on animals; with animal and professional (veterinarian) insurance, its actuality and necessity; as well as the administrative responsibility of the veterinarian.
Knowledge - insight in the related to the veterinary field legislation and its application; of the national veterinary supervision and its principles - 2 tests.
Skills to find and apply the corresponding Latvian or European Union legislative norms according to the performed veterinary activity - practicals. Competence to know and to apply in a right way the legislation in force doing veterinary practise; working in national veterinary and food safety policy and supervisory authorities - KEGA work.

Successfully completed two tests, defended Clinical and epidemiological Case analysis and successfully passed exam.
Clinical and Epidemiological Case Analysis (KEGA) work on the course offered of the supervisor. To make the ethical and legal analysis.
Content of Analysis work: Introduction; Description of the case or description of problem; Case analysis (description of the action based on laws and regulations). After the submission of the analysis work written part, on the end of the course should be present oral with max. 10 min. PowerPoint presentation, expressing the main information about topic, answering the questions and justify provided information The deadline when Analysis work must be submitted and defended determine course supervisor.
KEGA work are evaluated in accordance with the criteria of the 10 point system scale indicated in the LLU Study Regulations.
To be admitted to the exam must be successfully completed two tests and defend the clinical and epidemiological analysis of cases. Exam – written test with 50 questions, evaluated on 10 ball scale, the lowest successful mark is granted if correctly answered 60% of all of the questions.
