Course abstract

The aim of the study course is to learn the basics of transport logistics and transportation, as well as provide an idea of transport modes and their interaction, sustainable transport systems. Students look at the main modern modes of transport, as well as the coordination of the work of these modes of transport and the planning of rational modes of transport and transport schemes.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knows the nature and basic concepts of logistics, planning, calculation and evaluation of specific cargo transportation process, selection of appropriate vehicles, planning and calculation of specific works.
Is able to evaluate the suitability and efficiency of the use of vehicles on specific transport routes.
Able to choose the most appropriate mode of transport or a combination thereof for a particular freight or passenger service.
Theoretical knowledge will be tested and evaluated in tests, but skills and abilities will be acquired and evaluated in laboratory work.

4. Transport process and its elements (2 h)
Practical work on transport systems (6 h)
Test about transport systems (2 h)
5. Freight and passenger flows (2 h)
6. Logistics aspects of transport (2 h)
7. Freight delivery systems (2 h)
8. Importance of warehouses in logistics (2 h)
Practical work on transportation (6 h)
Test about transportation (2 h)

Part-time studies:
All topics specified for full-time studies are implemented, but the number of contact hours is 1/2 of the specified number of hours

Requirements for awarding credit points

A test with a mark consists of:
• 2 written tests;
• 2 practical works;
• independent work in accordance with the tasks assigned by the teacher

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Studies of special literature and normative acts, preparation for tests, preparation for development of practical works.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The course mark is formed from the assessment of tests, practical work and regular work:
10% attendance at lectures;
40% 2 evaluation of tests;
20% preparation of independent work;
30% 2 practical work evaluation.
