The subject includes the theory of general (typical) machine elements (part and units), engineering calculations and design. The subject presents engineering knowledge that is required for perform expertise work.
Knowledge – professional engineering knowledge for practical and creative work in machine expertise - Test
Skills – can apply the knowledge investigating disputable and complicated machine damages to give competent judgment – 4 practical tasks. Competence – are able to modulate technical tasks in machine science, solve technical problems, carry out and supervise research, are knowing, informed and capable technical experts – 4 lab tasks.
1. Introduction. Mechanical Drives. (Lecture – 1h)
2. Determination of torque, power and speed ratio. (Lecture – 1h, practical work – 1h)
3. Axles and shafts. Calculation of shaft load and shaft’s strength (Lecture – 1h, practical work – 1h, lab work 1 h.)
4. Calculation of friction drive (Lecture – 1h)
5. Belt drives (Lectures – 2h, lab work – 1h)
6. Types and design, selection and calculation of rolling bearings (Lecture – 1h, practical work – 1h, lab work 1h)
7. Cylindrical gears (Lectures – 1h, practical work – 1h, lab work 1h). Test.
Course assessment with a mark is formed follows:
• all practical taks must be submitted and successfully graded. (40%)
• all lab tasks must be submitted and successfully graded. (30%)
• classroom test must be written and successfully graded (30%).
The problems for independent work are similar to the ones given during practice work. The problem starts with statement of initial parameters. To solve the problem, application of the skills obtained during practice is necessary.
The mark is formed as the weighted mean of the results of practical tasks, lab tasks and the test.
