Course abstract

The aim of the study course is to gain knowledge in classification of cutting tools, materials and cover of cutting tools, production technology of preparations. They acquire production of drills, manufacturing technology of turning tool and profile cutters, production of milling cutter, of pull broach and push broach. Students understand of production grinding wheels, heat treatment technology, sharpening and development of cutting tools manufacturing.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge of cutting tool materials, coatings, their properties, Test 1 - “Cutting tool materials, coatings, their properties” - in the form of a test, a successful mark if 50% of the questions are answered correctly.
Skills in the development of production technologies for drills, lathe cutters and spanners, pointed tooth milling cutters, end-toothed milling cutters, bushings, press-through production technologies. Test 2 - “Properties of drills, lathe cutters and spanners, pointed milling cutters, end-toothed milling cutters, throughputs” - in the form of a test, successful mark, if 50% of the questions are answered correctly.
Competence in the development of cutting tool production technologies.
Assessment - test and laboratory work reports.
