Course abstract

The projection of the topographical surface in the plan view. Two-dimensional projecting of principal geometrical elements. The landbuilding normalization of the topographical surface. Limits of cut and fill in the langitudinal section and cross - sections of the roadway.
The shades of geometrical and building elements in orthographic and axonometric views. Methods of shade construction. Method of central projecting. The elements of a perspective view. A two – point perspective of an object. The construction perspective view from the outside with shade.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• • Knowledge - understands the concept of using auxiliary planes in topographical, oblique and central projections. Knows construction of auxiliary views in topographical projections. Understands concept of construction of perspective projections and shadows in different architectural projects.
The level of knowledge shall be determined by assessing the theoretical justification of the solution to graphical works.
• Skills – can use auxiliary planes in construction of different views. Students can plan fills and cuts of site terrain and construct the border lines. Student can construct buildings and its shadows on different landscape objects in central and orthogonal projections.
The level of skills shall be determined by assessing the quality of the performance of graphical works.
• Competence – ability to apply professional knowledge of descriptive geometry and drawing skills in practical work and studies.
The level of competence shall be determined by evaluating 2 test works and 2 independent works.

Course Content(Calendar)

Full time intramural studies:
1. Topographic projections of points. Scale bar(2h).
2. Topographic projections of lines(2h).
3. Topographic projections of planes. Construction of contour lines(2h).
4. Topographic projections of intersection between basic geometrical elements(2h).
5. Intersection between basic geometrical elements and topographic surface(2h).
6. Construction of land-building slopes(2h).
7. Test work(2h).
8. Shadow of a point and line at orthogonal and axonometric projections. Shadow of a point to plane(2h).
9. Shadow of a plane on plane(2h).
10. Shadow of solids at orthogonal projections(2h).
11. Shadow of solids at axonometric projections(2h).
12. Basics of perspective(2h).
13. Perspective of point and straight line. Perspective of solid(2h).
14. Test work(2h).
15. Shadow in perspective(2h).
16. Shadows of building in perspective(2h).
Part time extramural studies:
All topics specified for full time studies are accomplished, but the number of contact hours is one half of the number
specified in the calendar.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Development and theoretical justification of 12 graphical tasks and 2 independently-excutable graphical tasks. Passed 2 tests and exam.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

The graphical tasks in the laboratory work must be complete independently, in accordance with the conditions specified in the laboratory work. Theoretical justification of the solution to graphical task takes place after its completion, during laboratory work.
1. independently-excutable graphical work – the land building normalization of the topographical surface.
2. independently-excutable graphical work – Perspective and shadows of building.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

• The level of knowledge shall be determined by:
knowledge of terms, definitons interpretation, knowledge of techniques, comprehension of regularities.
• The level of skills shall be determined by:
graphical basic skills, skill to operate with knowledge, skill to analyze and predict, skill of creative activity.
• The level of competence shall be determined by:
Non-assisted quiz development using only the tools needed to perform graphic work. independently-excutable work has been developed without the assistance of the teaching staff.
The level of knowledge, skills and competence is determined using summative assessment.
