Course abstract

The aim of the study course is to supplement the knowledge about e-business organization and the application of the latest technologies in this field. Students will gain skills in the analysis of successful competitor companies e-business, e-business planning and development, will get acquainted with the technologies for attracting visitors using visual target-oriented interactive information design. Within the course, students practically learn the methods of representing the results of market analysis, tools for creating smart advertising, analysis of traffic statistics and other business data, as well as get acquainted with current events and development perspectives in this field.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

•know e-business systems, their structure and principles of development - execution of practical works;
•have skills to analyse existing e-business systems and usage of their modules for the development of the systems, to use IT tools for business data acquisition, management and analysis – execution of practical works;
•acquire competence define, interpret and use professional terminology in e-commerce, working in teams or independently, be able to analyse and recommend e-business systems, to apply acquired skills in the e-commerce solution development, using and integrating e-commerce platform and tools, make and substantiate independently synthesized decisions, assure the others and argue their own point of view – execution of practical works and independent work.

1. Basic concepts of e-business. E-business and e-commerce. Types of e-commerce products. E-business system framework. Legal basis of e-business. Review of related legislation (1h)
2. Types and models of e-business. Types of e-business combining value chain processes and collaboration models. E-business trends. (1h)
3. Practical work. Analysis of e-business model implementation solutions (1h)
4. E-business subsystems. Transaction processing system. Payment systems. Resource planning systems. Customer relationship management systems. Decision making systems. Content management systems. (1h)
5. Analysis of e-business systems. Market analysis. Competitor analysis. Website analysis. Sources of information for making objective decisions for the development of the company. (1h)
6. Customer analysis. Visual representation of analysis and observation results - Client persona, Empathy map. (1h)
7. Practical work. Analysis of e-commerce solutions. Creating a client's persona / empathy map (2h)
8. Content creation. Generating informative and meaningful content. Tools for generating content ideas, conducting research, translating text, analyzing content strategy: Google Trends, Pinpoint, Data Commpons, etc. (1h)
9. Marketing in e-business. E-marketing and its types. Distribution of customer categories in e-marketing planning. Adjustment of offer and content (1h)
10. Search Engine Management (SEM) (1h)
11. Creating and managing smart Advertisements’ Campaigns. Google Ads and AdSence Tools (1h)
12. Practical work. Google Ads (1h)
13. Social media marketing (SMM) (1h)
14. Practical work. Possibilities of creating an advertisement on Facebook social network (1h)
15. Business data collection and analysis. Google Analytics. User traffic statistics (1h)

18. Practical work. Work with the Asana tool. (4h).

Requirements for awarding credit points

6 practical assignments must be completed and submitted. Student must fulfill and defend independent work.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Student must complete 6 practical works on topics:
1. Analysis of E-business model implementation solutions.
2. E-business planning, website analysis, creation of customer persona / empathy map
3. Work with Google Ads
4. Advertising on the social network Facebook
5. Work with Google Analytics.
6. Project management using the Asana tool.
During the practical classes, the student receives task, which the student starts in the classroom and finishes at home.
The student must prepare an overview of each practical work that includes analysis. An independent work must be developed, in which the student must prepare a project using the Asana tool. The minimum volume of the solution description is 15 pages, excluding the title page, table of contents, list of literature sources and appendices. Completed works must be submitted to the e-study environment in accordance with the conditions for submission of the work.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Test with a score. Each practical work, which includes analysis, is evaluated in points (max 10 points). Independent work is evaluated in points (max 10 points). The final score of test is calculated as the average score of practical works and independent work points.
