The aim of the study course is to get acquainted with gaseous, liquid and solid electrotechnical materials, their properties, material extraction and pre-processing. Students gain knowledge about the characteristics of insulation materials, wiring materials, construction materials and products, their suitability for operation in environments with different conditions. In the laboratory work students acquire skills to determine the parameters of materials and their changes depending on the applied electric field, mechanical load, temperature and chemical environmental conditions.
Knowledge - knows the principles of classification of electrotechnical materials, the main properties of gaseous, liquid and solid materials - Test 1, knows the properties of inorganic dielectric materials and dielectric polymers and the corresponding application - Test 2,knows the principles and main parameters of electrical insulation varnish, enamel, compound, layered plastics and other plastics production - Test 3;
Skills - is able to determine the main electrical, mechanical, physical and chemical properties of electrotechnical materials - laboratory works, is able to choose dielectric and conductive materials, semiconductors, high-resistance materials, contact materials, magnetic material for electrical equipment in accordance with the operating conditions - laboratory works, independent work 1;
Competence - choose the materials of electrical equipment, according to their operating conditions. Test with grade.
