Course abstract

Master students in this study course get acquainted with the gravimetric objects, tasks and content. Acquire potential of gravity, normal gravity and its vertical gradient, and gravity potential anomalies. Acquire gravity units of measurement and measurement methods. Get acquainted with pendulum instruments for determining the relative gravity, gravimeters and gravimetric measurement methodology. Students acquire knowledge of the use of a gravimetric measurement for determination of geoid model.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• knowledge of gravimetry task, in gravimetry used instruments and accessories, force field and potential, gravity force and its measurement methodology, potential sources of measurement errors, measurement results processing and accuracy assessment;
• skills to independently perform the evaluation of the resulting task condition, use the acquired solution methods for different types of gravimetric task performance, perform analysis of the results of the changes in time and space;
• competence to carry out processing and evaluation of the obtained results, to be able to detect and avoid possible measurement errors, analyze and evaluate the gravimetric measurement results relevance to the geoid model definition and clarification.
