Course abstract

Study the design of buildings, the classification, design structure and general requirements of residential and public buildings through the Revit Structure computer program. Modelling of parts of the structure — basics, floors, walls, columns, beams, coverings, ladders, roof. The work environment and capabilities of the program. Creating computer visualizations.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

1. Manage the design bases of residential buildings, the functional and technological solutions of buildings. Focus on the range of materials and solutions and their rational use. (Test work 1)
2. You can use the main tools, commands, and techniques of the Revit Structure computer program in the design of structures. Capable of applying drawings of the construction of the Revit Structure computer program in the development and presentation, observing the construction standards of Latvia and other regulatory enactments. (Test work 2)
3. Is able to develop an architectural part of residential buildings and an individual 3D model of the building. (Final work)

1. General concepts on buildings and building design – 2 h
2. The capabilities and working environment of the Revit Structure computer program – 2 h
3. Horizontal and vertical attachment of structures and elements – 2 h
4. General requirements and classification of the pleas. Modeling the basics – 3 h
5. Classification of walls, architectural and constructive elements. Wall modeling – 3 h
6. Classification of columns and constructive elements. Modeling columns – 3 h
7. Classification of floors and constructional elements. Floor modeling – 2 h
8. Types of stairs and basic design principles. Modelling of stairs and railings – 2 h
9. Classification of divisions, modelling requirements for the structure of the division to be installed – 3 h
10. Windows, headlights, doors and gates. Using windows and door galleries – 2 h
11. Types of roofs, general requirements, their structures. Roof modeling – 2 h
12. Designing cuts and knots – 2 h
13. Compatibility of different types of files with the Revit Structure application – 2 h
14. Position views on pages of the ISO A series with a title block – 2 h
Part-time extramural studies:
All the topics intended for full-time studies are covered, yet the number of contact hours is ½ of the specified number of hours.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Attendance of the study course, passed tests, developed and designed the final work - a 3D model of a residential house.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

The final work should be developed in accordance with the calendar plan specified by the teacher. In Revit must have drawings of: master plan, two facades, building plans, sections, at least three details, building and material specifications.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The student is able to demonstrate the acquired skills at work with Revit in support of individual work. The test works must be counted, completed for the final work.
