Course abstract

Student to prepare information on the topics covered in the exam, which defines the specific state exam test questions. During the exam is tested students theoretical level of preparedness and ability to use their knowledge, thinking about the animal as a single organism, certain surgical and gynecological diseases and prevention.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge: The aetology, pathogenesis, clinical signs, diagnosis and tritment of the surgery and gynecology diseases. The principles of surgery and gynecology disease prevention – test.
Skills: Carry out clinical examinations of animals; identify disease symptoms, diagnosis, and explain the pathological process to appoint the appropriate treatment, as well as to identify and explain the pathological processes of the reproductive system operation - test.
Competency: Assess and find solutions to various surgical diseases, preventive measures, assess and solve problems in animal fertility. Correctly apply principles of aseptic surgery and safely perform sedation, general and regional anaesthesia, and assess and control pain -test.

4. Review lectures "Sex cycle, its neurohumoral regulation. Application of hormonal preparations in obstetrics and gynecology" - 1h.
5. Review lectures "Fertilization. Embryo, Fetal and Fetal Development, Childbirth" - 2h.
6. Review lectures "Peripartal period. Pregnant animal diseases. Postpartum period and its illnesses" - 2h.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Previously completed and successfully fulfilled all requirements laid down in the study programme:
State exam in the form of a test. The test consist of 100 theoretical questions.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Independent studies of literature as preparation for exam.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The student shall obtain a successful State examination test if not less than 65% of the test questions have been correctly answered. The evaluation of State examination shall be composed of test score expressed in grade, an evaluation on the 10-point scale according to the regulations of studies in the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies. The results of the State exam shall be approved by the State examination commission.
