LauZ5138, Master Thesis I
The purpose of the study course: to be able to creatively and scientifically cooperate with the supervisor in collecting research materials for the master's thesis in the field related to the sub program. The master's thesis must demonstrate the skills and abilities of the master's student in solving engineering problems relevant to the economy and in conducting research work. As part of the study course, prepare a report and presentation on the conducted research, as well as prepare a publication.
1. Knowledge - a master student obtains extended practical and theoretical knowledge and an understanding of the research performed in a related science, the newest research technologies and equipment and their exploitation, and processing of research data and their demonstration.
2. Skills - a master student is skilful in applying the knowledge in elaborating a master thesis: analysis of an analytical situation, assessment and development of a research methodology, creation of new knowledge based on the research performed, summarisation, assessment, and interpretation of the results. A master student is able to defend and scientifically justify his/her own decisions made to solve engineering problems.
3. Competence - a master student can independently perform and analyse engineering calculations of various complexities and extents, conduct experimental and analytical research related to the research topic chosen. Able to prepare a report and a presentation of the research – presentation. Is able to prepare a paper for a postgraduate scientific conference - prepared publication.
1. Compilation of literature relevant to the topic of the master's thesis. (2h)
2. Primary bibliography. (2h)
3. Design of experimental studies or model studies. (2h)
4. Draft methodology of experimental studies or model studies (2h)
5. Description of the equipment or tools used in the experiments. (3h)
6. Description of the models or prototypes used in the experiments (3h).
7. Choice of research data processing for master's thesis (2h).
8. Evaluation of experimental errors, choice of methodology (2h).
9. Choice of presentation of experimental results (type of graphs) (2h).
10. Preparation of a draft publication for the "IITF Students and Masters Scientific Conference" or an equivalent conference (4h).
Test
Students give a presentation at the enlarged Institute meeting. Proof of participation in an international scientific conference must be provided.
Selection of experimental facilities. Development of experimental methodology.
Passing the test requires a successful presentation at the extended session of the institute, presenting the sections mentioned in the course content, a draft of a scientific publication prepared for the scientific conference of IITF students and master's students or an equivalent conference.
