Course abstract

Course introduces with Eurocode I – content and diversity of actions. The main groups of loads and actions are studied in detail – dead loads, variable loads, climatic actions. Combination of loads in case of multiple loads. Using of partial coefficient method. MS Excel, AutoCAD, MathCAD programmes are used preparing for further work with BIM software.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledges about assessment methods of loads and actions; skills to determine the loads on different types of buildings; competences to set up, to solve and to analyse research problems according to given design situation. Assessment is given on the basis of defended individual test and competent conversation

Requirements for awarding credit points

Credit points are awarded if individual work is self-executed and succesfully presented.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Individual homework: “Calculation of loads on building components”. Student have a task, specified the deadline of submitting and provides with control questions.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The positive assessment of individual work will be given if the main calculation results are correct and
student is capable to discuss on methods and results of load calculations.
