Course abstract

The study course is aimed to give general understanding about the use of reinforced concrete in building structures. It includes material properties, durability assessment, use limit state design method, detailing and graphical representation of the structures. The main methods of section analysis and simplified serviceability assessment are acquired.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge of principles and behaviour of reinforced concrete, and main methods of section analysis;
• Skills to perform member analysis under ultimate and serviceability limit states and connect it with actual behaviour of a real reinforced concrete sturctural elements;
• Competence to define problem for the analysis of reinforced concrete structures, to choose the calculation method and to evaluate the results.
