Course abstract
Students develop knowledge and skills to apply psychological knowledge in their profession and in working with people. They acquire knowledge, skills and reflection abilities; learn to understand their fellow students. Doing exercises, students strengthen self-confidence and self-esteem. Students evaluate their individual personal characteristics and mental resources for career and professional development, as well as develop social competence by learning management and communication skills and skills to deal with conflicts. Students have opportunity to practice public presentations.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
After completing the course, student:
• will be acquainted with own learning characteristics, will know main principles of public speaking, will understand the work in small group solving problem in a limited time (workshop) and without time limit (outside workshop), will be better acquainted with themselves and fellow students, will have an idea about a few communication models and opportunities to avoid psychological manipulations;
• will be able independently to define priorities, manage time and prepare a simple public presentation, more confidently engage in group work, more understandable and more confidently to talk to clients; • will be able independently to solve problem situations with colleagues and clients, to organize his own learning by using acquired knowledge through the course (e.g. on own learning style), has had a public presentation in workshops for fellow students and prepared a independent paper within the framework of study course on execution of tasks, with the conclusions how lessons learned may be useful in everyday life and profession.
