Course abstract
Study course aim is to provide students with the knowledge of the uses of GIS in forestry. The course include forest survey facilities with GNSS / GPS and remote sensing sensors. Students are working in several data processing and mapping programs.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
The student is able to independently prepare a forest stand plan in accordance with the Latvian forest inventory specifics. He knows how to work in different mapping programs, including ArcGIS, ArcPad, QGIS and MapWindows. Ability to work with the GNSS / GPS devices.
