Course abstract
Students see Project Management as planning of the process and resourses, the control of realization and the evaluation of costs; gain practical skills with software MS Office Project and Analytic Hierarchy Process method with MS Office Excel. Students must to develop and to present individual study project.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
Knowledge about some mathematical methods for project management with computer (practical works, individual study project, theory tests).
Skills – build the precise plan of project for issues problem and manage risks with MS Office Project and MS Office Excel as well as decision making with Analytic Hierarchy Process (practical works, individual project, theory tests).
Attitude – comprehension of system manager (planner) about responsibility of optimal resources using, primarily human resources. Ecological approach for economy problem solution. The ability to apply scientific methods for justification of management decisions (individual study project). Competences – knowledge and ability for optimal and environmental safety decision planning and making process of project management with information technologies (practical works, individual study project, theory tests).

1 Introduction to Project Management with Information Technologies.
2 SWOT, Logframe and WBS methods for the individual study project.
3 Familiarisation with your MS Office Project on example’s base.
4 Project structuring, the basic parameter setup and plan optimization with MS Office Project.
5 Resource mapping and load scheduling with MS Office Project.
6 Analysis of the cost with MS Office Project.
7 Project information presentation capabilities with MS Office Project.
8 Decision-making with Analytic Hierarchy Process and MS Excel.
9 CPM and PERT techniques in project planning and risk determination.
10 Test (CPM method).
11 The development of individual study project. 12 The presentation of individual study project. Theory test.
Requirements for awarding credit points
Successfully passed the exam - at least 50% of the individual project assessment.
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work
Four special methods and MS Project system application for an individual training project offered in e-learning system (http://estudijas.llu.lv).
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
The exam cumulative assessment depends on compulsory individual study project (80%) and the two theory tests (20%).
