Course abstract | |
The aim of the study course is to learn operation of cogeneration plant for heat and electricity generation as well as design principles are being acquired during studies. Fuelwood and fuel gas production, as well as biomass resources, biogas and biofuels production, including costs, tariffs and economic efficiency are being studied as well. | |
Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
Knowledge - types of alternative energy - biomass energy and its various forms - theoretical and practical aspects – exam;
Skills - to create and select biomass energy sources for energy supply of objects, to coordinate the strategy of use of various resources – exam; Competence - to ensure the proper operation of biomass energy utilization equipment, to assess the mutual compatibility and interaction of different energy resources – exam. |

Biogas and its chemical composition. Lect.1 h 8. Production of biogas by fermentation of organic substances. Biogas production in landfills. Lect.1 h 9. Economic aspects of biogas use. Lect.1 h 10. Liquid biofuels. Lect.1 h 11. Use of ethanol and methanol to improve gasoline. Lect.1 h 12. Biodiesel. Lect.1 h 13. Biodiesel production technologies. Lect.1 h 14. Biodiesel in cogeneration. Written exam.
Exam consists of: Two questions of the theoretical part; The task of the topics learned in the study course; The student is admitted to the examination only if all tests are counted. |

Evaluation of study results is based on the student's answers during the examination. It is also possible to get a maximum rating of 10 (excellent) if all the work is done on time, and the student has given the appropriate knowledge. | |
