Course abstract
Extramural practice. Students expand their knowledge and practical skills.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
Knowledge: of laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging; the most common diseases – their etiology, pathogenesis and treatment. Knowledge of the organization of veterinary work in veterinary institutions. Assessment – medical reports and oral presentation.
Skills: Performing clinical examinations and diagnostic imaging procedures, making diagnoses and recommendations. Assessment – medical report and oral presentation. Competence: Selecting the correct diagnostic tests and prescribing treatments; analysing the health situation of the herd. Assessment – medical report and oral presentation.
Course Content(Calendar)
In order to acquire practical skills and new knowledge, students must choose a practice placement with a certified veterinarian.
Requirements for awarding credit points
Two weeks after the practice students have to submit: three clinical case reports and one case to present, a review about the practice place, a description of the student by the supervisor, and a patient registration form. Documents can be submitted in printed form or via the e-study system. If the documents are submitted electronically, they must be signed with a secure electronic signature by the student and veterinarian.
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work
Preparation of three medical reports and a clinical case presentation.
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
The students' skills will be assessed in the order in which they are set. All clinical case reports and presentations must be graded "pass" to receive a final grade of "pass" for the program.
