Intramural practice. During clinical rotation, students work with veterinarians at teaching hospitals and farms, have access to patients; gain valuable hands-on experience. | |
Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
Knowledges: about laboratorial tests and diagnostic imaging, most common diseases - etiology, pathogenesis and treatment. Assessment – tests in practice all blocks.
Skills: to do clinical and diagnostic imaging examination, set diagnosis, treatment and recommendations. Assessment – evaluating practical work, signatures in clinical manipulation book. Competence: select correct diagnostic tests and treatment, herd health evaluation. Assessment – tests in practice all blocks and evaluating practical work. |

Course Content(Calendar) | |
1. Objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) – 2 weeks. Enhancement of practical skills in the simulation laboratory, followed by a structured clinical examination.
2. Small Animal Veterinary Medicine Module – 4 weeks. Theoretical and practical classes, concluding with a test and clinical case analysis. 3. Equine Veterinary Medicine Module – 4 weeks. Theoretical and practical classes, concluding with a test and clinical case analysis. 4. Farm Animal Veterinary Medicine Module (MPS Vecauce and Mobile Clinic) – 4 weeks. Theoretical and practical classes, concluding with a test and clinical case analysis. |

Requirements for awarding credit points | |
At the beginning of the Clinical rotation, students are required to pass a Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). The examination is considered successful if at least 80% of the prescribed clinical procedures are performed correctly. The OSCE may be attempted twice prior to commencing the clinical rotation in the University clinic and animal facilities. If the student fails to pass the OSCE within two attempts, a repeat examination may only be taken in the following academic year. In such cases, the internship is not credited, as the student cannot proceed to the clinical part of the practice involving work with animals.
At the end of the Clinical rotation, students must have at least 70% of the required entries recorded in the Clinical Procedures Logbook. Attendance in all internship modules is mandatory, according to the schedule set by the academic staff and published in the e-study platform. In cases of justified absence, the missed practice must be compensated individually in agreement with the respective module supervisor. Furthermore, students must complete all assigned individual tasks in each module, successfully pass the final assessment, and present a clinical case. |

Enhancement of clinical skills in the Simulation Laboratory; clinical case analysis is required in all internship modules; in the Small Animal Veterinary Medicine module, students must prepare radiographic descriptions and patient discharge reports; in the Small Animal and Equine Veterinary Medicine modules, students are required to perform analysis of scientific publications and/or clinical case reports. | |
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes | |
A “pass” is awarded only if the student achieves a passing grade in all assessments within each practice module, successfully completes the OSCE examination, and records at least 70% of the required entries in the Clinical Procedures Logbook. | |
