Course abstract
The aim of the study course is the development of a diploma thesis, with which students prove their theoretical and practical knowledge and ability to independently solve issues related to the field of veterinary medicine, to draw reasoned conclusions. The student must develop the diploma thesis in accordance with the requirements of the methodological guidelines and defend it in the State Examination Commission.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of the research topic, knowledge of the guidelines for the development of the diploma thesis, compilation and analysis of research results; The ability to summarize and analyze the obtained results, to draw conclusions. The ability to organize and plan one's time, as well as to choose appropriate information acquisition and processing methods to achieve the research results; the ability to work with scientific and professional literature.
Course Content(Calendar)
1. Description of results;
2. Preparation of the discussion chapter of the thesis and conclusions;
3. Formatting and submission of the thesis for review; 4. Public defence of the diploma thesis.
Requirements for awarding credit points
The diploma thesis must be fully developed and drawn up in accordance with the LBTU FVM methodological guidelines for the structure and design of the diploma thesis and defended in the State Examination Commission and evaluated with a grade.
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work
The diploma thesis is prepared in accordance with the methodological guidelines of the diploma thesis.
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes
The diploma thesis is evaluated according to the 10-point scale criteria indicated in the Study Regulations of Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies. The grade of the diploma thesis is calculated as the arithmetic mean of the reviewer’s grade and the grade of the State Examination Commision, with decimals being rounded in the direction of the commission’s grade.
