| Course abstract | |
| Study course Internal Medicine, Herd Health consists of two parts. Internal Medicine is the basic clinical study course of Veterinary Medicine. General aims of study are following: - definition of internal non - infection diseases, epidemiology; - etiology, pathogenesis, clinical findings; - diagnosis, differential diagnosis; - course of disease, prognosis; - treatment and prophylaxis (control). During the studies of Herd Health students acquire scientifically knowledge’s about health care and possibilities to resolve problems in production animal units. | |
| Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
| Student should be able to demonstrate:
one-day skills: communicate effectively with clients, the lay public and colleagues, using language in a form appropriate to audience and the context; be aware of the ethical responsibilities of the veterinary surgeon in relation to individual animal care and client relations; be aware of personal limitations; Knowledge about: the aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment of the common diseases in the common domestic species; the principles of disease prevention and elimination of herd health problems; practical competence to: obtain an accurate and relevant history of the ill animal; handle and restrain an animal safely and humanely; perform a complete clinical laboratory examination; perform laboratory tests and interpret results; establish diagnosis, advice and administer appropriate treatment; attend in an emergency treatment of domestic animals. |
