Course abstract | |
Course of small animal surgery instructs etiology of soft tissue and orthopedic surgical diseases, pathogenesis, diagnosis, differential diagnosis of diseases and principles of treatment. The second part of the course includes orthopedic and neurological examination, bone fractures, surgical treatment of skeletomuscular system diseases. | |
Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
Knowledge: to describe surgical treatment of skeletomuscular system and bone fractures.
Skills: clinically exam the patients, formulate diagnosis, describe pathologic processes and prescribe treatment; calculate anesthetics; prepare patient to surgery; monitore patient – practicals. Competency: according to acquired knowledge and skills discuss in groups and answer independently about surgical cases. |

Requirements for awarding credit points | |
Successfully completed exam. Absence of lectures and practical works are not more than 30% of the total number of lessons. If missed lectures and practical works are more than 30% of the total number of lessons, then the course must be repeated. | |

Home works are evaluated in accordance with the tasks of the practical works. | |
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes | |
Student skills are assessed in accordance with the procedures specified in the tasks of the practical work. The exam is organized in written test with 100 questions evaluated in a 10-point system scale indicated in the LLU Study Regulations. The lowest successful grade is given if 70% of all questions are correctly answered. | |
