| Course abstract | |
| Students acquire basics of Latvian language, that are necessary to create a successful communication in everyday situations. The language proficiency level corresponds to A1 (CEFR). Students gain insight into Latvian history and culture. | |
| Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
| • Knowledge – linguistic knowledge according to Level A1: vocabulary knowledge consisting of high frequency words and phrases concerning specific situations, memorized simple structures and models of sentences. Sociocultural knowledge, general knowledge about history, geography and culture of Latvia.
• Skills – communication skills, which include reading, speaking, listening and writing, according to the proficiency level of language. • Competence – students have relevant to Level A1 language communication competence. Linguistic competence is sufficient to understand simple expressions and phrases. |
