Course abstract | |
Students acquire in-depth knowledge and skills about the nature of professional ethics and its operating principles in human resources management, providing career support to individuals in the development of their potential. Completion of the study course develops the ability to organize client-centred career support and promote the career counsellor’s professional growth in accordance with professional ethics standards and guidelines. The aim of the study course is to provide students with in-depth knowledge and skills about the principles of professional ethics and respecting them when performing professional tasks in human resources management. | |
Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
Knowledge:
1. In-depth knowledge of the principles of professional ethics in career counselling in human resources management and the integration of these principles in various theoretical approaches from the aspect of personal needs, values, career development and life planning - test, practical work. 2. There is an understanding of the principles of professional ethics in various models and approaches of human resources management - test, practical work. 3. There is the necessary knowledge at the level of use about moral judgment in the management of human resources in the provision of career guidance - test, practical work, independent work Professional skills: 4. Able to perform a self-analysis of the career counsellor’s professional activity and competence - practical work, independent work 5. Able to act according to the principles of professional ethics of a career counsellor in solving various ethical problems - practical work, independent work 6. Able to help clients understand and evaluate their personal characteristics, abilities, skills and compare them with the chosen career direction, as well as compare the client's career development interests with the organization's goals - practical work, independent work Soft skills: 7. Able to find, critically evaluate and creatively use the necessary information and resources for the performance of work tasks - practical work 8. Able to cooperate, listen and create dialogue - practical work, independent work Competence: 9. 1. The essence of professional ethics. A historical perspective on morality. Balance of values. The role of ethics in human resource management: universal values, organizational values, individual value system as a basis for career development and life designing. – 2 h lecture / 1 h practical work
2. Levels of moral judgment and principles of professional ethical action, their integration in human resources management. Professional ethics guidelines: codes, standards and laws – 2h lecture / 1h practical work Test - Levels of moral judgment and principles in human resources management - 1 h 3. Human moral development and its connection with career development and life designing – 2h lecture / 1h practical work 4. Value models in human resource management. Self-worth and self-regulation. Hope/Expectation Value Models. Achieving of individual and organizational potential. – 2h lecture / 1h practical work 5. Career counsellor's professional competence and ethical behaviour in client-centred career support, incl. in sociodynamic counselling and in providing career guidance – 2h lecture / 1h practical work 6. Self-analysis of the career counsellor's professional activities in human resources management: awareness of attitudes and beliefs and self-growth. Requirements for awarding credit points | |
Assessment with a grade in a 10-point system, which consists of a cumulative assessment of successfully defended and presented independent work in the seminar, practical work during the lessons and a successfully written test. | |
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work | |
56 hours are planned for independent work, which are organized as follows:
• preparation for practical work – 6 hours; • preparation for a seminar in which independent work is defended - 50 hours. Independent work performance is evaluated in a 10-point system. The independent work must be defended in the seminar during the lessons. The student must be able to discuss the topic of the independed work, its progress and justify the obtained results. |

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes | |
The credit rating of the study course depends on the cumulative rating of the test, the practical works, as well as the independent work (which is defended and presented in the seminar).
20% test on the levels and principles of moral judgment in human resource management. A successful rating is received if at least 60% of the questions are answered correctly. 20% practical works on the operation and principles of professional ethics in human resources management. 60% defence and presentation of independent work in the seminar. |
