Course abstract | |
Students acquire basic knowledge about the management and transformation processes of various organizations, about the work of a manager and its importance in the qualitative and productive work of organizations, and about the application of various management approaches when implementing management functions in organizations. The aim of the study course is to develop in students knowledge, skills and competence about the nature of management, functions, management styles and differences in management in the public and private sectors. | |
Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
Knowledge:
1. about the nature and functions of management - test, discussions, situation analysis in classes; 2. about management in public and private sector organizations - test, discussions, situation analysis in classes; 3. about leadership styles and organizational leadership during changes - test, discussions, situation analysis in classes. Professional skills: 1. Able to independently analyze situations in organizations - discussions in classes; 2. Able to independently plan and create communication in an organization - discussions in classes; 3. Able to explain issues related to management functions in a reasoned manner - test; 4. Able to motivate people and manage change processes - test. General skills: 1. Ability to fulfill tasks responsibly and on time - discussions; 2. Able to reasonably and reasonably explain issues related to management - situation analysis tasks; 3. Able to participate in group work and discussions - discussions, situation analyses. (1 hour) 3. Organization. Understanding the organizational environment. (1 hour) 4. Management theories and their application in practice. Modern management theories. (2 hours) 5. Management directions in the world. Trends that have influenced modern management. (1 hour) 6. Manager and authority. Leader in the organization. Management styles. Forms of power and its manifestation. Manipulation. (2 hours) 7. Planning as a management function. Strategic planning. (2 hours) 8. Decision-making process and methods. (1 hour) 9. Organization and coordination. Communication processes in organizations. (1 hour) 10. Control functions and role in management. (1 hour) 11. Change management. Crisis Management. (1 hour) 12. Motivation and modern motivation approaches. Motivation in public sector organizations. Talent management. (2 hours) List of practical work (16 hours): 1. Peculiarities of management in different industries and fields. Management effectiveness. (1hr) 2. Necessary skills and knowledge for leaders and managers: specifics of the industry. (1 Hour) 3. The organization, as a system. (1 hour) 4. Discussions on the main findings of management theory and their practical application in modern enterprises (2 hours) 5. Test (1 hour) All topics specified for full-time studies are covered, but the number of contact hours is reduced to half of the number specified for full-time studies. |

Requirements for awarding credit points | |
The course includes a test, one independent work "Organizational Analysis", which must be submitted within the specified time, and situation analysis and discussion in practical classes.
The final assessment of the study course is an examination, in which 60% is made up of an accumulative assessment of study results and 40% is an examination test. Test - independent work is assessed according to the requirements for the quality of performance and a successful assessment can be received in the test if at least 50% of the test questions are answered correctly. |

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work | |
Within the framework of the study course, independent studies are allocated:
48 hours in full-time studies, which are organized as follows: preparation for the test and exam (20 hours), preparation of independent work (10 hours), preparation of practical work at the specified times (18 hours); 64 hours in part-time studies, which are organized as follows: preparation for the test and exam (20 hours), preparation of independent work (10 hours), preparation of practical work at the specified times and discussions in forums (34 hours) |

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes | |
Independent work is assessed according to the requirements for the quality of task performance. A student can receive a successful assessment in the exam if at least 50% of the test questions are answered correctly. | |
