Course abstract
Latvia is an integral part of Europe. But a great part of society has no access to objective information about this international organization: about the process of consolidation of the European countries, formation of the EU, its institutions and basic principles of work, the way of Latvia to the EU; Latvian membership in the EU, as well as the current EU treaties.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
After the course completion students will have:
Knowledge of the European Union's key concepts, the history of the EU institutions and their role in European policy-making, as well as key EU policies that affect Latvia.
Skills: apply the acquired knowledge professionally, working in state institutions and local municipalities related to European issues. Competence: use of acquired knowledge in everyday life. Competence: the understanding of how to apply the acquired knowledge and skills for the effectiveness of state and local government authorities in relation to the EU matters concerning Latvia.
