| Course abstract | |
| In production conditions students get skills how to use the wood science theoretical knowledge about dendrological properties in commercial tree species and they prepare an appropriate herbarium. Students clarify the requirements of round timber production and quality. They identify the presence of common wood defects and assess corresponding timber grade. Students get acquainted with round timber storing techniques and protection measures. They acquire all possible round timber volume calculation methods. Students do rational trunk bucking. | |
| Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
| During practice, students acquire:
• knowledge of each other replaceable round timber assortments, their quality, volume calculation and storage methods; • skills is acquired, how to fix wood defects, their size, as well as how to assess log quality and volume; • competence is sufficient for rational timber bucking, wood quality assessment and timber volume calculation. |
