Course abstract |
Goal of the course is to introduce students with state of the art knowledge in field of woody biomass production, covering all most important aspect: tree breeding and choice of species/hybrid/variety for particular conditions, plantation establishment and management, potential yields and economic returns. Also environmental (e.g. waste management) and climate (adaptation, CO2 capture) aspects will be covered. During the distance learning part students will gain understanding of most recent advances in the research findings about woody biomass cultures. |
Learning outcomes and their assessment |
Students have comprehensive knowledge about state of and perspectives for woody biomass plantations in Baltic states and EU, are skilled to select optimal material and management regime for particular conditions and competent to develop sustainable solutions in relation to woody biomass plantations for own business initiatives or integration in larger projects. |
