Course abstract
Students acquire knowledge in the field of nutrition, which is necessary for the prospective production managers in order to understand nutrition issues of Latvia and the world. During practical classes skills are developed to make daily rations including the necessary foodstuffs in the menu. Both, during lectures and practical classes students` attitude towards correct and rational nutrition and its role in the society are developed.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
Knowledge – students will get an extended knowledge about nutrition, importance of nutrients in human body related to the optimal use of proper nutrients.
Skills – students will obtain skills for practical research, analysis and use the information about healthy and proper nutrition connecting it with the latest tendencies in food industry. Competence - as a result, students will be competent in theoretical and practical aspects of nutrition applying the obtained knowledge into practice in order to create innovative products which would be competitive.
