Course abstract
Studying the course, students acquire knowledge of probability theory and mathematical statistics with practical applications. The main accent is direct to practical investigations of problems, results calculations and final result professional estimation and interpretation.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
• Knowledge of probability theory and mathematical statistics methods with practical demonstrations.
• Skills use in practice software for statistical data (MathCad, Excel), calculate the probability, calculate the mode, median and mean, the range, variance and standard deviation for a set of data items, construct a suitable frequency distribution, calculate frequency, follow the main step in a test of hypothesis, place confidence intervals around the sample estimate of a population mean, use tabless for chi-squared distributions, derive the equation of the line of best fit to a set of data pairs, calculate the correlation coefficient. • Competence: of mathematical thinking, of handle symbols and formal mathematics language, of mathematical problem formulating and solving, of reasoning, of modeling, of aids and tools and of communication.
