Course abstract
Students acquire knowledge of cultures of the world, as well as better understanding of Latvian culture in the context of Europe and the world. The course focuses on perspective models of the development of culture.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
* Knowledge about history and theory of culture, which promotes positive interpersonal communication, better understanding of political culture and multicultural communication, stumulates more effective collaboration with mass media.
* Skills in better understanding of social processes and in making effective decisions according to changing circumstances. Skills in analysing current political processes in different levels (from international to local) and in evaluating their influence to the development of culture. Skills in understanding topical issues in culture and applying knowledge for effective professional leadership. * Competences to give professional explanations and comments in mass media, to participate in coordination and supervision of cultural projects, to consult with various interest groups about issues of cultural politics.
