Course abstract | |
The aim of the study course is to provide knowledge and develop an understanding of the dynamics, regularities and differentiation of demographic processes at the global, regional and local levels, and the ability to link it to the development of society. The course provides basic knowledge about the science of demography, the demographic structure of society, its research, the main demographic processes - births, deaths, marriage, migration; measurement and analysis of demographic processes, demographic regularities, theories and concepts. It develops understanding of the latest demographic forecasts and the basics of demographic policy. Students acquire skills and abilities to independently analyze demographical data for the analysis of various demographic scenarios. | |

Knowledge. Knowledge of demographic processes, their coefficients, demographic theories and concepts, demographic data sources; understands demographic regularities, demographic forecasts and demographic policy tools for the analysis of various demographic scenarios (individual tasks, seminars, discussions, test)

Requirements for awarding credit points | |
Exam. The exam assessment is cumulative for the set of practical work (40%) and the test on all topics covered in the course (60%).
Study process in part-time distance learning is organised in accordance with the Order of the Vice-Rector of Studies No. 2.4.-5/59 On distance learning procedures at LBTU. Study courses are scheduled for each semester according to the study plan. The students learn the topics included in the study course independently, using the materials created and placed by the lecturer in the e-studies (Moodle). Feedback on the learning of lecture and seminar topics in distance learning is organised in the form of self-assessment tests, discussion forums and independent work, as well as in face-to-face or online consultations, lectures and final examinations according to the timetable. |

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work | |
At the end of the study course master students must pass a test. The final assessment is cumulative on the following topics and tasks: 1) A set of individual tasks on all main demographic processes and discussions (40%); 2) Test (60%). | |
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes | |
Students must prepare a practical tasks, discussions (40%), test all topics covered in the course (60%). 10% corresponds to one point on the 10-point assessment scale. | |
