Course abstract | |
The Bachelor's thesis is a research project for the Professional Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired during the studies in solving topical problems in the field of hospitality in the tourism industry. The development of the bachelor thesis demonstrates the student's ability to orient, select, process, analyse and critically evaluate the necessary information in accordance with the set aim and objectives of the thesis, select appropriate research methods, analyse the research results, formulate conclusions and make proposals. | |
Learning outcomes and their assessment | |
Knowledge - Able to critically evaluate the processes and patterns in the hospitality sector, understand the relevance of rational and sustainable use of resources - bachelor thesis, bachelor thesis review, bachelor thesis defence. Knowledge of hospitality products; financial planning and monitoring; processes and influencing factors in a hospitality business - Bachelor thesis.
Skills - Able to critically analyse information sources - Bachelor thesis, Bachelor thesis review. Requirements for awarding credit points | |
The bachelor thesis must be submitted to the secretary of the State Examination Board (SEB) for registration and then handed in to the reviewer. The bachelor thesis is to be defended at the meeting of the SEB by presenting a 5-7 minute report and answering questions from the SEB members and the reviewer. | |
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work | |
The student develops the bachelor thesis (13 000 to 15 000 words in computer text without appendices) independently according to the chosen topic in consultation with the supervisor of the bachelor thesis. The student submits the successfully pre-defended thesis, formatted and signed by the thesis supervisor, to the Secretary of the SEB at least 10 working days before the date of the thesis defence meeting. The procedure for development, management, submission, pre-defence and defence of the Bachelor's thesis is regulated by the LBTU Senate Decision No. 11-36 "On Examinations of Final Studies" (09/03/2022) | |
Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes | |
1.Before registration, the thesis must be submitted to the supervisor, who will sign the thesis and confirm that it is suitable for defence.
2.A positive reference must be received from the reviewer, stating that the reviewer encourages the SEB to award the Bachelor's degree. 3.At the meeting of the SEB, a passing grade (minimum 4 points) must be obtained for the bachelor thesis. |
