Course abstract
Occupational health and occupational medicine as a science, its types and dimensions. Occupational risks as causese of illneses, their recognition and evaluation. Occupational diseases and work-related illnesses, their dynamics and consequences. Predictable Disability. Labor expertise and rehabilitation. Mandatory health checks. Health promotion in the work environment.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
After completing the course student will have:
• knowledge of occupational health and medical recent trends, understanding about risk factors the health of workers in labour environment, compulsory social insurance against industrial accidents and occupational diseases;
• skills recognize unhealthy risk factors in spesific sectors and identify potential health problems, organize regulatory enactments of compulsory health checks, able to provide first aid in accident at work; • competence occupational health and safety specialist responsibility in company in occupational diseases prevention according to the Latvian and EU legislation.
