Course abstract | |
Knowledge of basic principles of sustainable spatial planning, development of regional marketing strategy and territorial development. Practical work 1-16.
Skills to analyze and identify strategic directions for the development of a place and to apply various techniques in spatial planning, using both objective and subjective information, skills in schematic representation of strategic spatial planning solutions, to deal with spatial planning details. Practical work 1-16. Competence in sustainable and long-term spatial planning, ability to understand interdisciplinary approaches. Practical work 1-16. Students present results of course in the research of the development of the chosen city displaying it in schemes, as well as in the analysis of existing planning documents |

Requirements for awarding credit points | |
The lecture course must be attended, must be prepared report, analysis and spatial development proposal of the student’s own choses town according lecture topics. Report should be in graphic form- schemes, pictures, sketches. Works submitted after the specified time (unless there is a justifiable reason) will have their grade reduced in accordance with the assessment rules approved by the institute. | |
Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work | |
Following the topic discussed in each lecture, students prepare study of the chosen city. Results of research should be represented during the practical works.
Themes of practical works: 1. The role of settlements in the regional context 2. Urban-rural interaction and potential for cooperation 3. Assessment of the development orientations of settlements and rural areas 4. Use and potential of local development instruments 5 Analysis and comparison of the functions of different governmental levels 6. Analysis of the factors of settlement development 7. Analysis of the role of the settlement in the settlement structure 8. Reflection of modern urban development trends in the selected locality. Application of smart solutions in cities 9. Study of the historical development of the settlement 10. Analysis and proposals for the compositional structure of the settlement 11 Analysis and proposals for the transport infrastructure of the settlement and the surrounding region 12. Critical review of the existing municipal spatial plan. Analysis of the engineering infrastructure of the settlement 13. Analysis of the structure of the settlement based on subjective factors 14. Analysis of the existing situation of the Detailed Planning Area 15 Conceptual solution for the development of the Detailed Planning Area 16. Detailed planning solutions - building structure, transport organisation, landscaping proposals, provision of utilities, building conditions. |

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes | |
Creativity of proposals for city development and quality of spatial analyses will be evaluated. Form of assessment - examination. | |
