Course abstract

During Clinical practice II students learn: anamnesis acquiring, communication with the owners of animals, to make a diagnosis, treatment, they practice in sick animal handling, feeding, care, and prevention of disease.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge - know the history collection of the basic principles of diagnostic examination scheme, applicable special investigative techniques, indications, interpretation of test results, and choose the most appropriate treatment for a range of activities and resources; Know the basic principles of emergency;
Skills - practical application of theoretical knowledge; Strengthening the practical skills of working with food-producing animals, horses and small animals; be able to collect medical history, investigation of animal and use special investigative techniques, interpretation of test results, and choose the most appropriate treatment for a range of activities and resources; be able to explain to the owners of animals necessary preventive measures, the need for application forms;
Competence - to be competent in a productive animal, equine and small animal practice management; to be informed about the latest trends in a variety of disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

Course Content(Calendar)

Clinical practice II occurs within 24 h on duty, which includes both practical work (~ 80%) under the direction of the responsible veterinarian and individual work (~ 20%). The exact breakdown is subordinated and depends on the range of works to be performed on the given day.
According to the plan, developed by the responsible student, students arrive at the place of work. Work and activities are carried out under the supervision of the responsible veterinarian.

Requirements for awarding credit points

The Clinical practice II is counted in the case of the positive assessment of practical work and about clinical case presentation at least almost satisfactory “6” for each.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

During the Clinical practice II, in coordination with the responsible veterinarian, one clinical case is being developed and studied in depth.
Clinical practice II is defended in the framework of the organized Clinical lesson in the presence of its groupmates and the Clinical Practice II coordinator, as well as veterinarians may be invited.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Students' knowledge and skills are evaluated in accordance with the procedures specified in the practical assignments, as well as after the presentation of the clinical case and the presentation electronically.
