Course abstract

Theoretical approaches of ecology and environment are included in the content of the study course, emphasizing their position and role in education. The focus is on relationships between society and environmental, on the importance of environmental protection, on social responsibility for its conservation and environmental education organization at the school. The students use the acquired knowledge, competences for solving environmental problems and for involving the community in environmental-friendly activities in the context of sustainable development.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge and understanding about the content and theoretical approaches of ecology and environment in education as well as about relationships between society and environment, environmental protection and environmental education at school.
• Skills – to analyse and evaluate the aspects of environmental protection; to organize creatively environmental education activities at school using a variety of learning/teaching methods and forms; to develop students’ skills to see the problem, to solve and to involve community in environment problems.
• Competence – able to see and observe the principles of environmental protection and ecology; able to integrate creatively environmental education topics in lessons at school, promoting environmentally friendly behaviour for pupils in the implementation of education for sustainable development.
