Course abstract

Based on the knowledge acquired in previous courses, the student independently studies various tasks, experimenting with both materials and technology to get the best solutions.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

1. Have a good knowledge in the various textile technologies in order to obtain the best results - samples, projects, boards
2. Apply new techniques, familiar with new materials, looking for the best solutions - samples, projects, boards
3. revealed availability of non-traditional materials to achieve the best result- boards, projects
4. capable of matching the most appropriate techniques and materials, resulting in visual and creative work – boards, projects

Course Content(Calendar)

1. Representation of the point and line of compositional expressions in tamboring, knitting and other textual technologies - sample catalogue.
• Points, circle types in a plane (1 h).
• Points and circles as terrain shapes (1 h).
• Display of line types (straight, curved, broken) in plane and terrain (2 h).
2. Compositional searches and solutions for textures and textiles in a variety of techniques – visual board.
• Textures from tamboring elements (3 h).
• Types of textures in knitting and other techniques (3 h).
3. Restraining and weaving techniques with different textile materials - 2 h, Visual board.
4. Restoration project for an interior object or clothing using a specific art style and a variety of textiles - 4 h, sketches, samples (experiments with materials, textures and colors).
• Presentation of the idea in sketches, looking for analogues, analysis of similar projects.
• Sample development, textile techniques combining in a single composition.
5. Use of non-traditional materials in the weaving process (application of terrain in textile products) - sample catalogue.
• Textures of natural materials (3 h).
• Textures from recycling materials (3 h).
• Textures from stylistically different materials (3 h).
6. Use of woven textures in large-format works (4 h).
• Weaving technique in a circular format.
7. Use of woven samples in an interior or clothing accessory project. Representation of the idea in composition - 3 h.
• Presentation of ideas in sketches, analysis of projects.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Successful average mark for all practical work allows to obtain the necessary credit points.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

1. To develop and design 6 samples using various textile techniques and textile materials with point and line types.
2. Design a 40x40 cm visual board with different types of textures, using crocheted, knitted and other techniques and terrains.
3. Design a 40x40 cm visual board using weaving technique from different materials. The work must use different techniques, textures and match the color scheme.
4. To develop an interior object or clothing restoration project using a specific art style. Display the project on a 40x40 cm tablet, showing sketches, samples, visualization of the object.
5. Develop and design 3 samples of weaving technique using different materials.
6. Design 30x30 cm visual board with different types of woven textures and sketches of ideas, by matching the color scheme.
7. Develop a project of an interior object or clothing accessory from woven samples in a large format composition

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Practical works are evaluated on a 10-point scale according to the following criteria:
1. idea, creative approach, creativity in experiments with materials and techniques - 2 points.
2. work culture and quality - 2 points.
3. design according to the requirements - 2 points.
4. inclusion in the terms of work development - 2 points.
5. attendance of practical classes (at least 75%) - 2 points.
6. the final evaluation of the study course (test with a mark) is the average mark of the results of all works.
