Course abstract

The publication of research results is related to obtaining a test in the study subject - Preparation of Scientific Articles (within the 1st semester). After acquiring skills in creating scientific articles, one publication is planned every semester, sequentially reflecting the amount and content of the obtained research materials.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge
- knowledge of research methodology and modern research methods in landscape architecture science, applying it in the preparation of scientific publications.
Skills
- is able to apply their research skills in preparing research results for publication, part of which is at the level of internationally cited publications;
- to systematize the obtained results of the doctoral research and prepare them for the requirements of a scientific publication;
- submission of scientific articles in English;
Competences
- objectively evaluate and correct the structure of the scientific article according to the reprimands of the reviewers and resubmit it;
- independently and as a team, prepares and submits publications for publication in scientific journals of various levels or in conference proceedings.

The results of the course are evaluated by the head of the study program together with the scientific supervisor in each semester, evaluating the doctoral student's performance in the approbation of the research.

Course Content(Calendar)

- Gets acquainted with industry conferences and scientific journals, publication conditions and requirements, evaluating their ability to prepare research results for publication each semester;
- independently applies for approbation of his / her research;
- prepares the text of the publication, graphic materials, draws up references and bibliography in accordance with the requirements;
- in consultation with the supervisor and / or research participants, correct the prepared publication;
- the revised publication is independently submitted to the published and for review;

- makes corrections according to the reviews of the reviewer and submits the corrected article.

Requirements for awarding credit points

The assessment of the test is obtained if at least one publication is published during the semester, which reflects the research problems, prognosis, development, describing the topicality, novelty and causality of the research.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

The summary of all sections of the course envisages a minimum of 6 publications - during 5 semesters. 2,3,4,5 semesters include 1 publication for 8 CP, and 6 semesters for 2 publications for 5 CP, as the last semester covers the final stage of the research, in which the obtained research material is completed and prepared for defense.
One of the publications must be presented at the annual Scientific Conference “Rural Development” of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies. Publications must be linked to the LLU scientific publication “Landscape Architecture and Art” (registered in internationally cited SCOPUS publications).

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

The evaluation of the test is provided by the scientific supervisor together with the supervisor of the study program. Evaluation criteria:
- The topic of the publication reflects the topic of the dissertation, reflects the results of the theoretical and written parts of the research;
- the doctoral student works independently, in regular consultation with the supervisor;

- the structure of the publication must meet the requirements of the basic structure of the scientific article.
