Course abstract

The course is intended for the evaluation of the obtained research results, the collection and processing of the obtained information, the emphasis of the main results and preparation of the scientific paper for submition to the scientific edition.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge:
- Manages terminology used in environmental engineering sub-sectors;
- Manages the latest scientific theories in the direction of the research;
- Manages the methods of data processing.
Evaluation – analysis of research results.
Skills:
- Able to collect, analyze and critically estimate the obtained information;
- Able to apply methods of data processing and data analysis;
- Able to carry out original research, some of which is at the level of internationally quoted publications.
Evaluation - number of publications in scientific editions.
Competencies:
- Independently carry out research and evaluation of the results.

Evaluation – discussion with the supervisor of the doctoral thesis

Course Content(Calendar)

Doctoral student independently:
1. Collects, processes and analyzes results of the research;
2. Prepares scientific papers on the main results of the research tasks;

3. The results are published at scientific journals, proceedings of the scientific conferences.

Requirements for awarding credit points

The number of publications corresponding to the course size taking into account the following evaluation:
- In scientific journals indexed by the Web of Science and/or Scopus – 5 Credits;
- In internation conference proceedings indexed by the Web of Science and/or Scopus – 3 Credits;
- In scientific journals – 2 Credits;
- In international conference proceedings – 1 Credit;
- Approved patent application (abroad) – 3 Credits;

- Approved patent application (in Latvia) – 2 Credits

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

The doctoral student independently carries out the evaluation and processing of the data and preparation and submition of the scientific paper, and consult with his or her supervisor if necessary.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Depending on the course size, the required number of credit points was obtained – scientific papers are prepared and submitted for publication.
