Course abstract

The course is intended for the evaluation of the obtained research results, preperation of the reports on individual research tasks defined in the doctoral thesis, highlighting of the most important results and presentation of them to the scientific audience.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge:
- Manage research methods in environmental engineering subsectors;
- Manages the methods of data processing.
Evaluation – analysis of research results.
Skills:
- Able to collect, analyze and critically estimate the obtained information;
- Able to apply methods of data processing and data analysis;
- Able to communicate on the field of represented scientific activity with the scientific community.
Evaluation – number of presentations at scientific conferences and seminars.
Competencies:
- Independently carry out research and evaluation of the results.
Evaluation – discussion with the supervisor of the doctoral thesis.

Course Content(Calendar)

Doctoral student independently:
1. Collects, processes and analyzes results of the research;
2. Prepares presentations on the main results of the research tasks;

3. The results are presented at scientific conferences, seminars, symposiums.

Requirements for awarding credit points

The number of presentations corresponding to the course size taking into account the following evaluation:
1. Oral presentation at international scientific conferences, seminars, congresses, symposiums (abroad) – 3 Credits;
2. Poster presentation at international scientific conferences, seminars, congresses, symposiums (abroad) – 2 Credits;
3. Oral presentation at international scientific conferences, seminars, congresses, symposiums (in Latvia) – 2 Credits;
4. Poster presentation at international scientific conferences, seminars, congresses, symposiums (in Latvia) – 1 Credit;

5. Presentation at scientific practical conference – 1 Credit.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

The doctoral student independently carries out the evaluation and processing of the data and presenting of the results at chosen scientific conferences, seminars, symposiums, etc., and consult with his or her supervisor if necessary.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Depending on the course size, the required number of credit points was obtained - the results of the research were presented at selected scientific conferences, seminars, symposiums, etc.
