Course abstract

Subject discusses the special design application of steel construction, based on specifics of cross section, manufacturing technology, field of use etc. Here provides an algorithm and numerical examples regarding thin-walled, composit cross section, plated and layered construction verification. In addition, there are given principle solutions for 3D, masts and towers, and sheet piling bearing capacity. MS Excel, AutoCAD, MathCAD programmes are used preparing for further work with BIM software.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledges about special types and properties of construction; skills to use the technical literature and algorithms for complex problem solving; competences to define the task, to choose the method of calculation and evaluate the acquired results. Assessment is given on the basis of individual work presentation and competent conversation about theme.
