Course abstract

Extramural practice. Students expand their knowledge and practical skills.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knowledge: of laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging; the most common diseases – their etiology, pathogenesis and treatment. Knowledge of the organization of veterinary work in veterinary institutions. Assessment – medical reports and presentation.
Skills: Performing clinical examinations and diagnostic imaging procedures, making diagnoses and recommendations. Assessment – medical report and presentation.
Competence: Selecting the correct diagnostic tests and prescribing treatments; analysing the health situation of the herd. Assessment – medical report and presentation.

Course Content(Calendar)

In order to acquire practical skills and new knowledge, students must choose a practice placement with a certified veterinarian.

Requirements for awarding credit points

Within two weeks after the completion of the practice, the student must submit the following documents (electronically via e-studies or in printed form):
1. Clinical case log.
2. Three clinical case reports.
3. A detailed analysis of one clinical case, comparing it with relevant scientific literature.

If the Clinical practice III supervisor has any questions after reviewing the submitted materials, the student may be invited to an individual discussion.

In addition, the following must be submitted:
• The student’s feedback on the practice placement,
• The supervisor’s evaluation of the student,
• A summary of the number of animals examined during the practice.

All documents must be signed by both the student and the supervising veterinarian. If the documents are submitted electronically, they must be signed with a secure electronic signature.

Description of the organization and tasks of students’ independent work

Prepare a Clinical case log and three clinical case reports, and conduct a detailed analysis of one clinical case.

Criteria for Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Students’ skills are assessed in accordance with the established procedure for the assigned tasks. To obtain the final course assessment “passed”, the student must submit the required documents within the specified deadline and receive a positive evaluation from the course supervisor.
