Course abstract

The aim of the study course is to develop communication skills of the students so that they are able to speak and understand simple monologues and dialogues in Spanish on everyday topics. The interactive language learning method is used, all four language skills (listening, reading, speaking, writing) are developed, the vocabulary learning is based on social and personal issues simultaneously providing knowledge of grammar and pronunciation. The language proficiency level corresponds to A1 (CEFR)

Learning outcomes and their assessment

• Knowledge – linguistic knowledge according to Level A1; vocabulary knowledge consisting of high frequency words and phrases concerning specific situations, memorized simple structures and models of sentences. Sociocultural knowledge concerns body language, every day life and facts about Spanish speaking countries.
• Skills – students are able to use knowledge and communication skills, which include reading, speaking, listening and writing, according to the proficiency level of language.
• Competence – students have relevant to Level A1 language communication competence. Linguistic competence is sufficient to understand simple expressions and simple phrases for providing specific needs. Sociolinguistic competence is sufficient to choose the necessary phrases of politeness and respond to a conversation partner.
