A professional traineeship is intended to consolidate the theoretical knowledge acquired and build up competences relevant to the programme. It covers the entire study of human resource management in a company/organization. Students perform an in-depth study of the situation in the management of human resources in the organization of career guidance. The theoretical knowledge acquired in studies is reinforced during the traineeship in order to acquire professional skills, soft skills and competence in human resource management.
The aim of the internship is to enable the master's students to strengthen the theoretical knowledge, and to expand the overall competence of the human resources management process as well as to acquire the set of practical skills necessary for human resources management specialists, including career counsellors.
Knowledge:
1. Students will be able to demonstrate an in-depth and integrated knowledge of use of theoretical aspects of human resources management in the organization of career guidance in enterprises and organizations of various industries of the national economy- practical training report, a reference of the work placement supervisor, the presentation of the report.
Professional skills:
2. Independently analyse management processes and functions at the work placement organisation and connect them with theory - practical training report and the defence of the report.
3. Analyse, compare and assess various human resource management processes at enterprises and organizations and identify opportunities for enhancement- practical training report, a reference of the work placement supervisor, the presentation of the report.
Soft skills:
1. Responsibly plan and complete the assignments given within the deadlines set and at high quality - reference of the work placement supervisor.
2. Reasonably discuss observations, conclusions and proposals - defence of the practical training report.
3. Work in a team and perform the tasks assigned - reference of the work placement supervisor.
Competence:
7. Understand, comprehend, independently assess, explain and innovatively apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills in human resources management of enterprises and organizations in various industries of the national economy and take part in this process - practical training report, a reference of the work placement supervisor, the presentation of the report.
8. Solve complicated problem situations in human resource management of enterprises/organizations and come up with innovative solutions - practical training report, the defence of the report, a reference of the work placement supervisor.
1. Introduce with the practice organization and its staff.
2. To describe and identify the position and role of the enterprise/organization in the national economy of Latvia, the EU economy and/or in the global context. Describing the enterprise/organization 's way of doing business, strategy, mission and purpose.
3. To describe and assess the pattern of human resource management processes in the enterprises/organizations.
4. To study the specifics of the work of a career guidance specialists, including a career counsellors in the organization: the application of career guidance and counselling methods and activities in human resources management.
5. To develop proposals for enhancing the human resources management processes and the performance of its elements in the particular enterprise/organization.
6. Prepare an practice report and a presentation of the report.
The practical training is completed within the specified period, a practical training report is independently produced and successfully defended with the Practical Training Commission. If the traineeship has not been completed in the required time period, if the traineeship defence has not been taken or has been evaluated with “failed”, it is considered to be an academic debt.
Within the framework of the study course description for independent work is given 243 hours, which consists of:
1) internship in a enterprise / organization;
2) preparation of the internship report in accordance with the content of the internship program;
3) preparation of the presentation of the practice report and defence of the practice
Final evaluation of the professional practice - graded assessment. Practice is evaluated in a 10-point system. The lowest successful mark is 4 (almost satisfactory). The assessment is made by the internship defence commission on the basis of the content of the internship report, the results of its internship defence and the reference of the internship manager.
