Course abstract

Students shall acquire knowledge of the basic principles of the construction production process, content of the technological documentation of the works and its design procedures, the basic principles of the technical and tariff setting of works, the classification of construction machinery, types of different recovery systems, their advantages and disadvantages, the basic schemes of construction machinery, mechanized instruments, building machinery and hand tools that can be used for the performance of the works. Students acquire skills in the technological design of construction works and basic knowledge of execution technology of construction works – construction site treatment, transport works, ground work, pile work and others.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

Knows the basic technological principles of execution of construction site works considered in the program, understands the content of technological design of construction site works, is able to orientate in the normative documents regulating construction site production. These skills are assessed with tests.
Can prepare the simplest construction calculations, can read the technological documentation of construction site works. These skills are assessed by the student's representative work. Knows the technical possibilities of the most widely used machinery in construction process, is able to choose the most appropriate mechanisation tools for specific types of construction work. This knowledge and abilities are tested in laboratory work.
Students' knowledge and skills are evaluated with a test with a mark according to the results of 5 tests, evaluation of the student's independent work and laboratory work.
