Students learn to implement management functions in a construction organization, prepare and make decisions, implement organization and control functions in a construction organization, know the functions and roles of a manager, the application of BIS, know how to evaluate the goals of a construction company, carry out strategic analysis, planning and management of the operation of a construction company, know how to obtain information and use it effectively for the realization of goals, learns how to create and manage a construction company. Know how to prepare project documentation for public procurement tenders.
The aim of the study course is to introduce students to the actualities of construction planning and the latest trends in construction management.
Students learn to implement management functions in a construction organization, prepare and make decisions, implement organization and control functions in a construction organization, know the functions and roles of a manager, the application of BIS, know how to evaluate the goals of a construction company, carry out strategic analysis, planning and management of the operation of a construction company, know how to obtain information and use it effectively for the realization of goals, learns how to create and manage a construction company. Know how to prepare project documentation for public procurement tenders.
The aim of the study course is to introduce students to the actualities of construction planning and the latest trends in construction management.
1. Construction management theory. Management functions. Manager and construction contractor. Management levels and skills. 1 hour of lecture, 1 hour of practical work.
2. Peculiarities of management in construction organizations, management efficiency. 1 hour of lecture, 1 hour of practical work.
3. Management theories and schools. Construction management as a process. 1 hour of lecture, 1 hour of practical work.
4. Construction organization. The boundary of the construction organization, and the influence of external and internal factors. Construction organization structure. 1 hour of lecture, 1 hour of practical work.
5. Building a construction company. Interrelationship of internal factors. People, their abilities, values, needs. Groups, their roles. 1 hour of lecture, 1 hour of practical work.
6. Middle and senior managers of construction organizations, their duties and responsibilities. Control work. Manager types, roles. 1 hour of lecture, 1 hour of practical work.
7. Decision-making, interfering factors. Decision-making models in a construction organization. 1 hour of lecture, 1 hour of practical work.
8. Mission, strategy, and tactics of construction company management. Analysis of strategic analysis and planning process in a construction company. 1 hour of lecture, 1 hour of practical works.
9. Nature and methods of decision-making, disturbing factors. Modeling in decision making. 1 hour of lecture, 1 hour of practical work.
10. 2nd test. Decision-making in the construction organization. 1 hour of lecture, 1 hour of practical work.
11. Mission, strategy, and tactics of construction company management. Strategic analysis and planning process. 2 h lecture, 2 h. Practical works.
12. Construction company management tactics, procedures, regulations. 2 h lecture, 2 h practical work.
13. Identification and analysis of the internal and external environment of the construction company. SWOT analysis method. 2 h lecture, 2 h practical work
14. Scheduling. Effectiveness of plans. Types and methods of planning. Construction organization life cycle. 2 h lecture, 2 h practical work.
15. Control. Construction control process, its effectiveness. Audit and control. Management audit. 2 h lecture, 2 h practical work.
16. Culture of construction organizations. Changes in the organization. The leader's action in ensuring change. Innovative solutions. 2 h lecture, 2 h Practical work (Exam).
The student must attend at least 85% of the classes, independently prepare and conduct the seminar lesson - pre-selected topics by preparing the theoretical basis, presentation, and handouts. Must have written two test papers on previously withdrawn topics. Must have a successful evaluation in the final test - the exam.
1. Essay on the latest solutions in construction technology.
2. Presentation on the topic of the report at the student conference.
3. Practical work.
The student is able to confirm the acquired knowledge and skills on construction legislation, construction technology and organization issues, performing 2 tests, defending the presentation with presentation, performing practical work and test.
