Course abstract

The study course is aimed at the acquisition of knowledge and skills in the foreign language studies with the purpose of extending students’ professional qualification and improving communication skills with foreign students, specialists and in the academic environment. The course envisages the mastering of the German language skills in various forms and levels focusing on the terminology related to sociology, society, social institutions, sociological research and social issues.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After completing the course student will have:
• knowledge – Terminology related to sociology, society, social institutions, sociological research, systematic and conceptualized professional information in the German language; the knowledge of the language use in the professional area.
• skills – Students are able to apply the knowledge of German and communicative skills, including reading, speaking, listening and writing skills, in their professional activities, participating in discussions, creating dialogues, making presentations. Students are able to use professional terminology in various communicative situations. They are able to find necessary information on-line, to structure and to classify it, work with dictionaries of terminology and industry.
• competence – Students have improved the competence of professional German language in order to apply it creatively in spoken and written communication for professional activities, student mobility and in academic environment.
