Course abstract

The study course is aimed at the acquisition of English with the purpose of extending students’ professional qualification and improving skills for communication with foreign students, educators and specialists, and in the academic environment. The course envisages the mastering of the English language skills in various forms and levels focusing on the terminology related to Pedagogy, Psychology, Visual Arts and Information technologies. The CLIL approach is used.

Learning outcomes and their assessment

After the course completion students will have:
• Knowledge: English terminology of Pedagogy, Psychology, Home Environment, Visual Arts and Information Technologies, and systematic and conceptualized professional information.
• Skills: Students are able to apply their knowledge and communicative skills, including reading, speaking, listening and writing skills, in their professional activities, participating in discussions, creating dialogues and making presentations. Students are able to use English professional terminology in various communicative situations (discussions, telephone talks, job interviews, business correspondence, electronic documents, etc.). They are able to find necessary information in English on the Internet, books and magazines; to structure and classify the information, to work with the dictionaries of terminology and industries.
• Competence: Communicative competence of Professional English use, intercultural competence and ICT competence
