Course abstract
The aim of the course is to raise the students’ awareness of the language culture as a general and socio-cultural feature of an individual, of the language policy issues and the role of language in international processes, promote respect to the Latvian language, improve the theoretical knowledge of the language functions and communication tools, improve the skills of oral and written literary language in accordance with the norms of the literary language, cultivate expressive speech skills and develop the skills of text editing.
Learning outcomes and their assessment
After completing the course student will have:
• knowledge – on the culture and functions of the language, its correct usage, students have extended knowledge about oral and written forms of the language system
• skills – to analyze texts according to the norms of literary style of the language; to use correct style of written language in business correspondence, to edit texts
• competence – students have improved the communicative competence of spoken and written Latvian language.
